Patio Door Screen Replacement

Patio screen door replacement is a relatively simple task that can be done with a few basic tools. Here are the easy and detailed instructions for you.

Tools and materials needed:

  • New patio door screen
  • Utility knife
  • Screwdriver
  • Spline roller
  • Spline

  1. Remove the old screen from the door frame. This can usually be done by simply prying the spline out of the groove with a screwdriver.
  2. Once the old screen is removed, clean the groove in the door frame with a damp cloth.
  3. Cut the new screen to size. The new screen should be slightly larger than the opening in the door frame
  4. Insert the new screen into the groove in the door frame. Start at one corner and work your way around the frame, using the spline roller to push the spline into the groove.
  5. Cut off any excess spline.
  6. Reinstall the door handle.

  • If the spline is difficult to push into the groove, try using a little bit of soapy water to lubricate it.
  • If the new screen is not perfectly square, you can trim it to size with a utility knife.
  • Be sure to pull the screen taut as you are inserting it into the groove. This will help to prevent wrinkles.

With a little care and attention, you can easily replace your patio door screen and enjoy fresh air and bug-free summers.

We sell rolls of screening with different textures to help you with your patio door screen replacement project.
